Those of you planning to attend Flash on the Beach in Brighton this coming December and haven’t registered yet - the Early Bird pricing deadline has been extended until September 15th.
It looks like one of the most promising European events to date, lots of great international speakers and topics including Flash, Flex, Flash Lite, Apollo, AS3 and even AJAX.

There have been a number of posts and tutorials posted on this topic but just wanted to post it here as well because I’ve heard some people who were under the impression it is not possible to hook AMFPHP or other Flash Remoting solutions up to Flex 2.
Flex 2 uses a newer and more optimized version of the AMF format, while its true that exisiting Flash Remoting solutions currently don’t support this latest AMF format, it is possible to set a property on the NetConnection class to make it compatible.
Getting this done is pretty easy, you create a custom class by extending flash.net.NetConnection and set the objectEncoding property to AMF0 (the constant is set in flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF0).

I’m a little late blogging this but was recently interviewed for the Dzone Adobe Special edition about the Flash platform revolution (Dutch).
Other friends and colleagues featured in the magazine are Peter van den Wyngaert (NRG), Serge Jespers (Webkitchen), and the guys from Nascom.
Its hard to imagine but Flash is turning 10 this summer, I guess we’re all getting old. We of course couldn’t let this occasion go unnoticed and are organizing a great big birthday party with the MMUG Belgium on September 7th!
