Shai Avidan has joined Adobe
30 08 2007Not exactly breaking news but this certainly deserves a blog post. Dr. Shai Avidan, co-creator of the impressive “Seam Carving for Content-Aware Image Resizing” demo you see above has joined Adobe and will be working from the Newton, MA office. Looking forward to seeing this technique make its way into a future version of Photoshop.

Straight away I thought… hmmm… convolution filter, create outlines, then scan darkest pixels using A* or something… then, “meh, maybe some day when I have time”… and just 20 minutes later I saw this http://swieskowski.net/carve/ at http://news.ycombinator.com/news crazy! That carver is pretty slow though… it must be as3, but I would have expected better… anyway, thanks for the heads up, I’d never heard of it.
