Flashforward Boston - OOP for the Noob
19 09 2007I just finished my presentation at Flashforward2007 Boston and absolutely loved it! My session covered the basics of object-oriented programming with ActionScript 3.0 and a little introduction to Design Patterns (Observer, Singleton, MVC).
Managed to get a full room with Aral Balkan presenting next door so am pretty impressed about the turnout. Great audience response and questions afterwards so, thank you Boston!
As promised here are my session notes for download, I’ll be posting a more in depth example of MVC with AS3.0 in a couple of days. Enjoy!

Yay !
Thanks Peter !
Good stuff, Peter. Thanks for posting your slides so quickly. I have to admit, when you got into the MVC stuff, you started to lose me a bit. I will look for your future post about it though. Cheers!
Great meeting you Peter! Your presentation was awesome. It’s a difficult topic to try to sum up in an hour and half, but I believe everyone got a lot out of it.
I hope you enjoyed Boston.
I, for one, am looking forward to a more complete example of MVC. I’ve had trouble grasping the idea and would love to see something more fleshed out. Your example seems very succint and I can actually understand what’s going on. It’s just applying it that seems to be the issue.
Thanks Peter!
It was a great session and I’m looking forward to spending time working through your files! Hope to see you again.
