Adobe MAX Chicago – Sneak Peeks

If you thought the keynotes were exciting, wait until you hear what we got to see in the sneak peeks session. There was of course the disclaimer that technologies they demo may never make it as actual products, but what a lineup it was.

I’m in the process of uploading video for most of the demo’s we got to see, so bookmark this page and I’ll eventually have them all up — there are loads of them!

Flash “Next”

Flash on C/C++

Flex Applications on Linux

Seam Carving

Photoshop Express

Flash Home for Mobile

PDF Packaging

Stay tuned for more to come…

    hi,

    all coo stuff.

but PLEASE fix live update of Info Panel in Flash Authoring when creating new shapes/objects, dragging objects on stage.

2nd is a usability feature, ability to make duplicate of a layer, like photoshop.

Has everyone grasped the magnitude of what seam carving does to photography? It will become very difficult to be able to trust another photograph again.

When he demonstrated the speed and simplicity of removing the shoes from the shoe rack, I got very nervous. As a designer, and casual photographer, this presents huge benefits, but consider those who would use this in a negative way.

I realize these things have been possible with Photoshop for some time now, but seam carving is making the next quantum leap in photo manipulation.

I still want a scalable timeline like in every 3d package out there. Or a play these frames only option

    I’m an animator btw.

    thanks. Love the IK!

The C code to ActionScript 3.0 porter is AMAZING. I’d love to be able to help test it. One thing that I’d like to do is port Crafty to ActionScript 3.0 so that people can easily play computer chess online. How strong would it be? I think it would make a very nice benchmark test.

Does anyone know if they’re going to change the pen tool in flash?

  • March 11, 2008 - 12:33 pm | Permalink

@Charles: Yes, It’s going to be like the pen tool in Illustrator. Everything is the same, including shortcuts.

Richard Galvan announced this in his FITC session on Flash, now and in the future.

I am working in animation company and we STRETCH flash(8) to its limits.
Drawing/Clean Up tools are horrible especially the vector line editing.
On the other hand HARMONY/OPUS/ToonBOOM or whatever is called these days
already have all these features. But Breaking in Harmony is nightmare…(I love Symbols in Flash especially swap symbol option for mouthcharts)Please FLASH DEVELOPERS look at harmony and STEAL all nice features.
