Podcasts exempt from doing research?
1 05 2008Yesterday, I download the latest MacBreak video and what do I see —
<rant>
This is probably the worst description of any product I’ve ever seen. First of all, Bordeaux is not Thermo — secondly there’s already quite a bit of information out on Thermo since the MAX conference last October.
Two minutes of research or just checking with someone at Adobe would’ve been welcome (they’re standing right outside the stand for goodness sake).
I’m sorry to see the LA Flash user group being mentioned here, sure as hell they’re not spreading that kind of misinformation. I don’t mind the occasional speculation on a podcast but if you’re at NAB, in a position to easily confirm with an Adobe representative, and then present this dribble as ‘breaking news’ you lose my vote.

Funny, until now I had totally missed the mentions about Bordeaux. When I watched the video from NAB on Adobe TV about this I kind of thought it was Thermo too. I asked a few other people and they got the same impression. The presenter at NAB didn’t mention a product name, he did almost say it once and then caught himself and carried on.
I think it’s a fair assumption as for all intents and purposes it does the exact same thing. Import a psd and use those layers to create components and then create connections between those. The only difference between this and Thermo is that one outputs using the Flex framework and the other is targeting straight Flash (I’m guessing XFL) output.
So if they both do the same thing, why make two products - other than to make more money selling dev tools I guess.
Anyway, given all the publicity that Thermo has received and how similar these two initiatives are I think it’s fair for people to have assumed that this was Thermo.
