I'm hopeful and optimistic about what this means, not only for America, but for the rest of the world - we all suffered Bushisms, probably even more than we are aware - climate change denial, fear, 'errorism' - but that may just shift now - there sure is a feeling that it can - that people can be hopeful for a better future again.

A couple of my friends and I wanted to create a space for people to share this hope and optimism - it took us 24 hours - the result is wethankyouamerica.com

I hope some of you can contribute a few words and an image to share the hope and love.

Cheers,
Andrew

Tink, Jacob -- I appreciate your comments and regardless which candidate won the election they would have to prove themselves in the coming four years.

In a time of economic crisis it is easy to go for the status quo, instead people voted for an unlikely candidate with a positive message and a call for fundamental change.

This at least shows to me that the American people want the government to reflect on their old failed policies and move beyond unilateralism.

More so than just Barack Obama, I'm excited about the US as a whole wanting to finally tackle the real issues.

Tink said it best. As an american I couldn't stand the thought of mccain or obama in office. I hope he can fix the damage that has been done, but i don't have much of faith in this guy. We'll see.

Don't get too excited yet the guy aint done fuck all. As far as I'm aware politicians say stuff to get votes, then once in power do something entirely different.

a message from a guy from germany for america:

last night america made a decicion.
today i made a decision too : i put an chevrolet on my wishlist
its a 2009 camaro or a volt , if i can afford i will buy both of them.
one for passion and another one for reasons of economy and our enviroment.

as everyone knows we build gorgeous cars in germany too

until last night i could not drive an american car with a clear conscience

last night america took a new road and i want to drive this way too

the american dream has always been a dream of a better world for all
which has been shared all over the world

i am happy that i know today
the dream survived in your hearts
and the wish for good is much stronger than fear and anger

until today i can´t see a lot of american cars on the streets of berlin
i remember there where a lot of them in the eighties, my teacher drove one camaro that time

i am sure that this will change now, and so your economy will become strong again

dont forget that you are not alone in this world , and not alone in your country

do good, work hard, think for yourself and be responsible !

with love from germany
a german guy

yesterday is history
tomorrow is a mystery
today is a gift
therfore they call it
the present
