We use an ant script to handle the as-doc generation. Works like a charm. I agree that a built in system for documentation would be helpful. But what I really miss is a way to integrate my own documentation into the context help of Flash/Flex Builder/Eclipse so that shift+F2 could search within documentation for my own API.
We license part of our API to third-party developers and this would make their work flow a lot smoother.

It’s amazing that Adobe still hasn’t integrated AS Doc into a Run/Build for developers. As you mentioned there is some very nice AS Doc support when writing your code but you have to go through great lengths to actually get it to output. Thanks for the post…
