Under 250 hours to go before Multi-Mania 2007 kicks off! The biggest multimedia event in Belgium, completely free of charge, will happen on May 25th at the Buda in Kortrijk.

This year is even better with numerous international speakers attending: Mike Downey, Aral Balkan, Joey Lott, Stephanie Sullivan, Mario Klingemann to name but a few.

There are 3 tracks with 7 sessions each along with a workshop track covering CS3 integration workflow, Flex 2 and mobile devices. In the evening there’s a showcase by Fantasy Interactive followed by the annual awardshow.

I hadn’t come across this problem before today but its interesting enough to do a little blog post about.

If you use an external CSS file in your HTML and both files have a different character set encoding (in my case an HTML page in Unicode and the CSS regular ASCII) the page will not render correctly. To resolve this you need to add the @charset directive at the very top of your external CSS file, in the example below using iso-8859-1 (Latin 1) as its value.

@charset "ISO-8859-1";

#header {
	color: #666666;
	font-weight: bold;
	font-size: 14px;
	text-align: center;
}

Another solution is of course to save the external CSS file as Unicode, nice bit of CSS trivia nonetheless

I’ve been working on a cool little windowSWF widget for the Flash IDE that allows you to easily preview custom styles for the built-in UI components without having to compile your project each and every time.

I’ll be showing the code for this in my session on JSFL at Flashtival, Rotterdam this coming Monday after which I’ll make it available for download — if you’re heading out to that conference you can consider this a sneak-peek of more exciting stuff to come
