With Flash on the Beach just a few weeks away, decided to take a look at the schedule and see what sessions I definitely don’t want to miss
Day 1 - December 4th
I’m very pleased to be speaking at Flash on the Beach on one of my favourite, all be it a little exotic, topics — JavaScript Flash, the extensibility layer of the Flash IDE.
I’ve never been to Brighton and seeing the impressive lineup of international speakers this is the perfect excuse!
I’m working on some really cool new extensions, will be sure to post some on flashextensibility.com soon but some others I’ll keep secret until the conference because well… they’re a bit difficult to demo.
If anyone is familiar with Serge’s “I’ll try not to set the place on fire” experiment, that should give you a clue what I’m working on
John Davey is setting up an absolutely incredible conference at a great venue and very reasonable ticket prices, so if you live over in Europe (or like to travel) and want to see some inspirational presentations be sure to attend!
Its been several months since I first announced FlashExtensibility.com, but have finally found the time to get it up and running!
The idea behind this site is to provide an open source repository of JSFL scripts, everyone can get involved and share their work. Right now I’ve got experiments up that I did for a couple of Flash conferences. Some of the examples are still work in progress or just a proof of concept — feel free to play around with the code, debug and/or add features.
Looking forward to seeing this develop into an active community site — if you’re at all interested in extending the Flash IDE, make sure to get involved!
Special thanks to Keith Peters for hooking me up with the domain name and Aral Balkan for his help and support.
[update] There now is a mailinglist kindly hosted by osflash.org if you’d like to get involved.
The webDU 2006 conference is over for a couple of days now and just got back home yesterday afternoon. Had an absolutely wonderful time in Sydney, can really recommend it to anyone!
With the webDU conference just around the corner I’m getting ready to leave for Sydney, hope the 22 hour flight won’t be too draining
Before I leave I still have a quick trip to London and back, a bit absurd to head back to Brussels only to fly via London again that very night — but thats British Airways’ policy for you.
If you’re into JSFL you’ll no doubt know about “Extending Flash MX 2004” by Keith Peters and Todd Yard which is essentially the bible on Flash extensibility (though I have to admit there is little competition).
After reading Keith is letting the accompanying domain FlashExtensibility.com go, I got in touch and he graciously transferred the domain to me. Pretty cool, looking forward to building it up to a nice little resource on extending the Flash IDE!
